Our Roleplay Premise
The Athenaeum is a recently requisitioned organization of adventurers, researchers, investigators, engineers, and scholars developed by the new government of Ishgard following the nation’s re-joining with the other Grand Companies of Eorzea and the separation of church and state.In the initial congregations of the new Ishgardian parliament, the House of Commons proposed that this organization be developed to serve several goals.
Firstly, the organization would hire highly trustworthy individuals to assist in solving the everyday problems of the Brume along with other low socio-economic areas within Coerthas that still feel the effects of the millennia-long Dragonsong War. Alongside this, the organization is tasked with assisting the Temple Knights in their domestic duties.Secondly, the Athenaeum would be charged with the development of the region’s scholarly pursuits. The low-born among the Ishgardians have suffered a neglected education since the inception of their state, thus leaving a sizable portion of their civilization ill-equipped to thrive and prosper in their newly opened and allied city. This organization’s scholars would be tasked with the distribution of knowledge to the unprivileged of Ishgard and Coerthas.Additionally, the researchers of the Athenaeum would be tasked with seeking out new knowledge within the world, investigating strange phenomena, and unearthing secrets still hidden within Ishgard’s sphere of influence.Lastly, with the new Parliament of Ishgard agreeing to rejoin the Eorzean Alliance, it now must also fulfill humanitarian duties for its neighbors whenever they are in need.
